About Anthem Snacks
Anthem Snacks is a veteran-owned meat snack company founded by former Green Beret Nate Kouhana. Drawn to the outdoors, he made his way to Montana, the state many call “The Last Best Place.” The stated mission is to provide protein snacks to hard-working Americans while recognizing those who make freedom possible. That purpose is built into the business. Anthem directs 10% of its profits to veteran and first responder nonprofits, naming partners such as the Green Beret Foundation, Folds of Honor and Big Sky Bravery. It is also listed as a VA-verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. Kouhana frames the goal as proving a veteran-owned brand can compete nationally without compromising who it is.
What makes Anthem Snacks different
Three badges repeat across Anthem’s site: premium whole-muscle cuts, real wood smoke and handcrafted small batches. The brand says it uses 100% American-raised beef because it proudly supports American ranchers, and credits simple ingredients, slow marinades and real wood smoke for the flavor and tenderness. Its snack-pack pages describe the smoke as 100% real hickory wood with no liquid smoke, and the recipe as meat and spices with no nitrates and no MSG. One recipe is tied to a place: the Bourbon jerky is handcrafted with barrel-aged bourbon from Willie’s Distillery, a veteran-owned operation in Ennis, Montana.
Anthem Snacks flavors we carry
Everything here is beef, slow-cooked in small batches over real wood smoke, so pick by sweetness and heat. If you want a baseline, start with Original, billed as the timeless flavor of real beef and real smoke, then compare it with the rest of our classic original beef jerky. If you like a savory edge, the cracked-black-pepper option belongs with our peppered beef jerky. If you lean sweet, there’s a honey-infused jerky and the Montana-distillery bourbon one with its smoky, sweet finish. For heat, Sweet Heat is sweet up front with balanced, lingering spice, a natural fit among our sweet and spicy beef jerky, while Straight Fire is the one the brand says isn’t for beginners; our spicy beef jerky shelf keeps it company. Zero Sugar versions are made without sugar, according to the manufacturer, with the same whole-muscle cuts and wood smoke. Everything currently in stock is in the grid above.
Who it’s for
Heat runs from none called out on the original, honey and bourbon styles, through a black-pepper kick, to lingering heat on Sweet Heat and what Anthem calls crazy hot on Straight Fire. Expect a tender, whole-muscle chew; the brand’s own ticker calls Original “tender whole muscle.” Every flavor is labeled gluten-free by the manufacturer, and the Zero Sugar bags are its answer if you’re cutting sugar. Anthem’s site shows ingredient panels only as label images with no text “Contains” line, so if you have an allergy, read the bag first.
JerkyBrands is an independent retailer; the Anthem Snacks name and logo are trademarks of their owner.
