About Big Country Beef Jerky
Big Country Beef Jerky is what happens when two college athletes get tired of settling for the snack aisle. The brand was established in 2022 in Abilene, Texas, in what its founders call the heart of the Big Country. Peyton and Sidney Mansell spent their athletic careers at the University of Iowa, Baylor and Abilene Christian University. They kept searching for a snack with high-quality ingredients, great taste and plenty of protein. After a lot of searching they took matters into their own hands, and Big Country Beef Jerky was born. The two sign the story as ACU Football 2022 and Baylor Softball 2021.
What makes Big Country Beef Jerky different
The brand’s ingredient philosophy fits in three words: less is better. It describes the jerky as homestyle, hand-crafted in small batches and dried to perfection, with simple ingredients and 16g of protein per serving. The brand says it is USDA certified and a proud Go Texan Partner. Several flavors carry a “Signature” label attached to a named person, Luke Humphries’ Buffalo Ranch among them. The brand also promises a refund or new product for anyone who isn’t completely satisfied.
Big Country Beef Jerky flavors we carry
Everything in this lineup is beef, and most of it comes in 3 oz bags. If you want no heat at all, Original is billed as all the flavor with none of the heat, and Signature Black Pepper is described as packed with flavor without the heat of the Peppered jerky. Peppered itself has some kick but, in the brand’s words, won’t kill ya, and there is plenty of peppered beef jerky from other makers to compare it against. Buffalo Ranch is called pretty mild in the world of Buffalo wings.
