Glenwood Snacks traces its start to Oregon in 1975, when Crawford Smith began making beef jerky right after working on the family dairy farm. Glenwood Smoked Meats was acquired and rebranded as Glenwood Snacks in January 2018. The brand is based today in Saint Anthony, Idaho. Crawford, joined by his third-generation grandkids, still crafts the meat snacks the old-fashioned way. Newer flavors such as Maui Sweet Onion and Smoke Pit sit alongside the traditional staples. The stated mission is the finest quality packaged and premium dried meat snacks, in the United States and abroad.

Glenwood Snacks pitches its jerky as high-protein beef snacks built on familiar ingredients: brown sugar, honey, fruit juice concentrates, salt and spices. Several recipes are tied to places. The Maui flavors use very sweet Maui onions the company says it imports raw from Maui, Sweet Onion is made with Walla Walla onions, and Sweet Bourbon uses real bourbon from Idaho's Grand Teton Distillery, with the alcohol cooking off. Peppered is described as smoked with real wood in the high Rockies, and Smoke Pit as slow smoked over hardwood.
