About Katie's
Katie's Premium Jerky & Snacks began with Katie, a self-described jerkyholic whose favorite snack in college was beef jerky. The bags she was buying weren't good enough, so she made her own. Soon people were paying for her Original beef jerky. Katie earned an engineering degree and built a career as an engineer, though the dream of making the best jerky on the planet never went away. In 2014 she founded Katie's Premium Jerky & Snacks. That one Original recipe has grown into a line of beef, pineapple and exotic meat jerkies, sold from the brand's store in Hilliard, Ohio.
What makes Katie's different
Katie's sums up its process in three words: we take our time. The beef is trimmed and sliced, sits in the marinade for days, then dries under the eye of the brand's jerky experts before every piece is hand selected for packaging. The meat is USDA Choice beef, trimmed to 97 percent fat free and sliced to a consistent thickness. In place of nitrites, Katie's relies on the cook process and careful drying, then vacuum seals each bag with an oxygen absorber. Every product is billed as all natural, gluten free, nitrite free and preservative free with no added MSG, and the brand points to more than 80 awards.
Katie's flavors we carry
Everything here is whole-muscle beef, part of our full beef jerky selection. If you want mild, start where Katie did: the Original is rich and savory, sweet but not too sweet, and its peppered sibling adds the bite of the pepper mill like the rest of our peppered beef jerky. From there the heat climbs through Half Heat, the brand's award-winning gateway, into recipes topped with real whole habanero, ghost, Carolina Reaper and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers, no extracts; the Scorpion XXX is billed at over 2,000,000 Scoville units, the far end of our spicy beef jerky shelf.
The sweeter side runs to teriyaki in gluten-free soy sauce, mild or with cayenne for a medium heat, alongside our other teriyaki beef jerky, plus a maple made with 100 percent Ohio maple syrup. The sugar-free recipes, from a soy-and-Worcestershire cowboy to mild or spicy Cajun beef jerky, use no artificial sweeteners in place of the missing sugar. Everything currently in stock is in the grid above.
Who it's for
Several flavors call out no heat at all, and the top end reaches superhot peppers. Katie's describes the texture as moist and tender and labels much of the lineup sugar free and keto friendly. The flavor pages don't publish ingredient lists, but the teriyaki, cowboy and Bloody Mary recipes are made with soy sauce or Worcestershire, so expect soy there. Check the bag if an allergy is in play.
